Our 3 Top Google Ads Tips
The landscape is constantly changing as digital marketing matures, and what works today may not tomorrow. However, if we had to give 3 top tips that we think will stand the test of time and are current as of July 2023:
Tip 1
Ensure you have conversion tracking set up properly - it's the foundation of any successful marketing campaign. Quite simply, if you can't measure your campaigns then how can you improve them?
Tip 2
Experiment, experiment, and then experiment some more.
There are so many places that you can a/b test one thing against another. The most obvious places are ads and strategy. Starting a campaign on an automated strategy with no conversion data might not work great, but if you have conversion data then why not run a 50/50 experiment and test one strategy against another?
For example, you might test manual bidding vs max conversions. Once you have a positive or negative outcome, why not experiment further and measure whether you can further improve your Google Ads campaign performance?
Tip3
Never discount how much the landing page or website has a bearing on the success of your campaign.
This is one of the most overlooked areas of Google Ads that we see every day. You can spend months training and years experimenting with Google Ads, but unless you recognise the website/landing page has a massive impact on the success of your campaign performance, then you might just conclude that Google Ads doesn't work.
Haven't got the time to learn PPC or to become Google Ads Certified?
Whilst there are some fantastic free Google Ads training programs available, more than we can list in one blog post, sometimes you either haven't got the time, or your time is better spent on building and running your business.
In this situation, you have options!
Rather than spending hours searching for the best Google Ads courses and time committed to training, you can tap into agencies' experience where seasoned Google Ads managers have already qualified and spent their whole careers managing Google Ads accounts on behalf of businesses.
The purpose of outsourcing your Google Ads management is to ensure you have ad campaigns that hit the ground running, having benefited from tried and tested processes such as keyword research techniques, strategy planning, and execution.
Experienced PPC managers often have worked in your industry previously or are working on campaigns already in different geographical locations. Tapping into that level of know-how cuts out the need to learn Google Ads and become certified yourself.
